Hands
Hands that curl up cosily in affection, entwined in love,
Hands clenched to hit,
Hand holding firm the child,
The child holding that very hand as light as a feather, free of worries, free of
care.
Hand touching a newborn, hands the last time over one
dead,
Hand running over rose petals, hands feeling icy cold
water,
Hands that turn wet wiping tears, hands brought down to
bring tears,
Hands cupped to beg, hands stretched out to help.
Hands swaying to music, hands swinging loose of sockets,
hands telling
stories, hands clamping histories,
hands pulling strings, hands being pulled up like
strings,
Hands raised to question, to write, hands bound in chains.
Hands on prison bars, hands on chocolate bars,
Hands on heads bequeathing blessings, hands posed to
curse,
Hands pressing throbbing temples, hands ruffled through
hair,
Hands rubbing spices into fish pieces, hands scrubbing
away blood stains.
Hands dripping blood through a vein gashed by a blade,
hands drenched in lotion,
Hands with scabs of leprosy, hands with a touch of
velvet,
Hands bruised, burnt, hands scented with perfume,
Withered hands, soft hands,
firm hands, loose ones,
iron mesh hands, frail hands,
Well formed hands, deformed hands,
iron mesh hands, frail hands,
Well formed hands, deformed hands,
Hands of Mother Teresa, hands of Kalmadi
The hand of the Divine, the hand of mortalsWhose hand is it anyway?
Whose hand is it anyway? My
creativity was challenged by my brother’s ingenuity
