Waiting

He who knows patience knows peace.”- Anonymous

Waiting patiently is an art form. It has nothing to do with muscle power but all to do with mastering the troubled heart and the restless mind. It calls for the taming of the most fidgety: the wings of the soul. Toughest to develop, it is the art which takes years to master, years to bud. Like every blossoming bud develops into a fragrant flower, the aroma of patience fully developed is pleasant to the Maker.
Mark every successful being, scrutinize each humble person. Patience etched into every word, inspiring each action will you observe. Waiting is the most disliked and yet the most fruitful of all actions man undertakes. Though seemingly ineffectual and futile, it bears eternal dividends. The period of waiting is the most undesired and avoided situation of our lives. Passionately hated yet divinely appointed.
Waiting voluntarily is a rare exception. All of humanity, at one point or the other, arrives at a standstill in their lives. One, which forces men to think. In some cases, re-think the very basis of their existence. As to why they do the things the way they do, why they say the things they say, to discover the driving force of life, examine dreams they pursue. Questions that truly give meaning to life, yet the very questions that get drowned in the cacophony of our fast paced life. Waiting vacuums out these grunt ling voices and blesses our ears to hear the voice of our soul; His voice.
As a believer, waiting comes across as a troubling and most hapless phase of Christian walk. It causes the children of God, to doubt the faithfulness of their Father. It is that point of one’s life where one is forced to give up all that one holds dear to himself – ego, pride, confidence in the flesh, self motivation. To fall on ones knees and humbly declare Him alone to be, the Sovereign, the Omniscient, the Almighty!
Suddenly things we had never given priority, never given a second thought seem to be priceless - taking out time for the family, being the shoulder to the moist eyes, the support to the wagging knees. Most of all spending quality time with the one who made us! Though this returning back to the Creator is often selfishly motivated; a psychological necessity, it is after all, a return! The pleasure of walking back into His arms is the fruit of waiting.
And for those who feel they were already basking in the warmth of His bosom, before being meted out the task of waiting, waiting is a call to lean upon his chest. A call to hear His heartbeat and make it your very own!
So go, master the rare art form! Make it yours!
